The First Session of International (Medical) College - Local Student Meetup 2016 was held on 29th & 30th May 2016 (Sunday & Monday) at the Office of Nefsa Education Consultancy, Hatta Minuthong, Imphal East, Manipur, India. These was the first of its kind ever conducted exclusively by a single College. Counselling to students & parents who wish to study MBBS or send their ward to study MBBS at Bangladesh was the exclusive theme of the program.

The First Session was attended by Management and Staff of the reputed Jahurul Islam Medical College, Kishoreganj, Bangladesh. Habibur Rahman - Chief Co-ordinator, Monoj Kanti Roy - Advisor, Prof. S. Mahmudul Aziz - Principal, Dr. Oaliur Rahman - Special Envoy and MSR Chowdhury - Operative Director attended and enlightened the session.

Jahurul Islam Medical College is 2nd Oldest Private Medical College of Bangladesh and is considered to be among the best top 10 medical college of the country. Foreign students from as far as Europe and West Asian Countries apart from students from India (mainly J&K), Nepal & Bhutan are pursuing their Medical studies in the college. They are never in lack of number of students but their visit to Manipur was on special request of Nefsa Education Consultancy. We proudly present and acknowledge them the superior quality of School Education in Manipur as compared to many other states of the country. And we corroborate them students from this tiny state could help them in realising their mission to be the best Medical College of Bangladesh. They were also elated with NEC effort to establish preeminence by providing scholarship.

The 2 days Counselling Session was a great success. Huge numbers of students and parents turn up to secure their seat in the prestigious college. At the end JMIC give clearance to 9 students. In all we can expect around 10 students to make their entry in the first year MBBS from 2016-17 session. The team was also satisfied with the effort NEC is putting in. Finally they authorized NEC to be their affiliate and help, guide students in securing seats at their college and in assisting the formal documentation process for overseas education.
It is also worth mentioning that to secure a seat at such prestigious college, seats are even booked a year advanced in many parts of India. The college also admit students who secure not less than 8.5 GPA even though the minimum GPA is 7 for any foreign student to study MBBS at Bangladesh. However a special request was made to relax the minimum GPA for Manipuri students as the marks awarding system is very competitive in the state and our teachers and professors are very strict as compared to most other places. Giving accord to the request they agreed to admit student with 7.5 GPA on trial and would be increased to 8 GPA from 2017-18 session.
We thank the entire team of the Jahurul Islam Medical College and appeal to all the students to pick up the advantage and study your MBBS with one of the best medical college of Bangladesh.
Stay tuned with NEC, more colleges are coming up.
